Welcome New Wilderness Road Park Manager
Effective April 1, Jonathan Tustin will be Park Manager of Wilderness Road State Park. Most recently, he served (since 2006) as Business Manager for District III State Parks with headquarters in Woodbridge, Va. at Leesylvania State Park.
In his new position, Tustin said, "The park has a great team in place, and I look forward to our working together to grow this unique historical and natural resource."
A graduate of Paul Smith University, New York, he has an associate degree in hotel and restaurant management, pursued a major in history at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and served in the US Navy.
Tustin participates in training for the Incident Command System (ICS). He recently completed the ICS 300 for expanding incidents for operational first responders, as provided by Virginia Dept. of Fire Programs and the Virginia Fire Services Board.
Tustin's work experience includes 30 years in the hospitality industry. He managed program operations for dining and auxiliary services and special events for educational institutions: Yale University (New Haven, Conn.), Williams College (Williamstown, Mass.), Sweet Briar College (Sweet Briar, Va.) and Virginia State University (Petersburg, Va.).
Tustin's children live out of state. Two daughters, a son-in-law and a grandson reside in Mass., and his son is in New Orleans. Tustin and his fiancée Carolyn Hughes, along with best friend/dog Clementine, are relocating from Fredericksburg and will make their new home in Ewing.
